2027: Why Obi and El-Rufai Haven’t Officially Joined ADC – Party Spokesman
The Interim National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has explained the reasons behind the delay in Peter Obi and Nasir El-Rufai formally joining the party.
Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja over the weekend, Abdullahi stated that both political figures were given time to conclude ongoing political activities in their former parties, including by-elections and the selection of governorship candidates.
He affirmed their commitment to the ADC coalition, noting that they would officially become members once those obligations were fulfilled.
“They were allowed to wrap up outstanding electoral matters in their previous parties,” Abdullahi said.
Addressing questions on the party’s internal democracy, he emphasized that ADC has no predetermined candidate and assured a level playing field for all aspirants.
Abdullahi also dismissed allegations of legal troubles within the party, asserting that all actions taken by the ADC were lawful and designed to prevent exploitation by the ruling party.
