PDP Still Strong, Only Dreamers Think It's Dead – Bode George

Chief Bode George, a senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has refuted claims that the party has lost its relevance, dismissing such notions as the fantasies of “first-class dreamers.” Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, George responded to growing doubts about the PDP's influence and recent defections ahead of the 2027 elections.

He asserted that, despite challenges, the PDP remains Nigeria’s most structured and coordinated political party.

"Those saying the PDP is finished are just dreaming. In terms of political structure, loyalty, and internal organisation, no other party compares. I call the PDP the Iroko of Nigerian politics because its roots run deep," he said.

Internal Crisis Resolved, Party United Again

George also confirmed that the PDP had overcome its internal crisis following resolutions reached at its 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. He emphasized that the party is now unified and focused on the road to 2027.

"Every organization has its disputes, but the key is resolving them internally. We’ve done just that—locked ourselves in, had frank discussions, and emerged stronger and more united," he explained.

He assured party members and supporters that the turbulent period is over. "From July 1 until the next elections, we won’t allow division or false narratives to tear us apart again. We’re calling on everyone to return—the house is open, and it’s ready to welcome you back."
